About Our Cheese

Veldhuizen Handcrafted Cheeses
The style of cheese we make is considered farmstead raw milk artisan cheese. Farmstead means the whole process is done on our farm near Dublin, Texas. From raising the cows to wrapping and shipping the cheese to you, we handle it all.
Raw milk means our milk is neither pasteurized nor homogenized. Some heating is necessary in the cheese-making process – to create the curds which become the cheese – but we never heat our milk above the temperature that it naturally comes out of the cow. It’s the traditional way cheeses have been made for centuries.
Artisan means our cheese is made in small batches with the cheesemaker’s very own hands. The cheese is given plenty of care and attention, unlike mass-produced cheese that is created by pushing a series of buttons on large machines. Artisans don’t use artificial ingredients, flavor additives, or preservatives. We use expertise, experience, and heart. We work on farms and small creameries, not giant production plants and automated factories. We make original, authentic cheese.
Our cheeses are all natural. We do not add colorings or preservatives. You won’t find any orange cheese here! We use vegetable-based rennet and natural Redmond Real Salt.

Veldhuizen Real Raw Milk
At the Veldhuizen Family Farm we use our rich, golden milk to make handcrafted artisan cheeses, but you can also purchase raw milk directly from the farm.
Raw milk is a living food which preserves natural probiotics and is high in Omega 6, CLA, and rich colloidal minerals and enzymes. All of which make for a nutritious and incredibly tasty cheese, but also a healthy and vital addition to your family’s diet. You can enjoy our milk in your cooking and baking, but also in a tall, cold glass straight from the fridge. There’s nothing like it!
